With the Super 15 Rugby competition entering its final month of regular season action and with Sevens action coming to Twickenham this weekend, we at Africa Sky thought it was a great time to update you on the progress of the African teams.
Starting with the Super 15, the South African conference has so far seen the Stormers and Chiefs fly the flag. With 5 rounds to go the teams lead the third placed Bulls by 8 and 7 points respectively. In the overall standings South Africa would be represented by 2 teams in the playoffs. At the other end of the table the Lions are stuck at the bottom, level on points with the newest addition to the Super 15, the Australian Conference’s Melbourne Rebels. However, these positions are by no means final, as anyone who has watched Super 15 rugby will attest, a lot can happen in 5 rounds.
The IRB Sevens World Series makes its annual trip to the home of rugby this weekend as Twickenham plays host to one of the increasingly popular formats of the sport. This is the penultimate round of the tournament which has so far produced some fantastic games. Africa are represented by 2 teams in the main standings with South Africa lying 4th and Kenya 9th. The table is headed by the usual suspects in New Zealand and England.
South Africa has played consistently throughout this year’s competition with their best result coming in the USA where they beat Fiji in the final. Meanwhile Kenya has picked up points at both the New Zealand and USA stages this year and continues to show improvement. Whatever happens for Africa’s teams this weekend we are sure to be treated to an entertaining weekend of rugby.
Everyone at Africa Sky would like to wish all of the Africa rugby teams the best of luck for their respective tournaments.

A question which is on my mind and maybe on yours when traveling abroad is how good is the food and is there anywhere to eat outside of the hotel. Well if traveling to the Mombasa Coast, I can confirm that you do have a choice of restaurants and bars which are of good quality and have a great range of cuisine to choose from.
In Mombasa’s North Coast there is the one of the most popular restaurants, it over looks the beautiful Old Harbour and has a great selection of freshly caught seafood.
On Mombasa’s South Coast in Diani, you will find Forty Thieves a beach bar which is a great place to meet other guests of hotels as well as locals. Every Sunday they offer a traditional Sunday Roast which is delicious and they also have a selection of starters, salads, meats and puddings.
One last restaurant which I am going to mention is the magnificent Ali Barbours Cave. This restaurant is actually built into a natural coral cave this restaurant serves international food under the stars of the sky. The atmosphere is magical with a lounge to relax in before you get seated and staff which cater to your every need.
Whether its fine dining or just a quick bite to eat that you’re looking for, one of these restaurants are bound to tickle your taste buds.
