Camel Walking SafariYou may have seen over the weekend the announcement that the BBC will be sending a number of famous faces to Kenya for this year’s big Comic Relief fundraising event.  A group of nine Celebrities are preparing to tackle the 100km (62 miles) hike across Kenya and includes names such as Dermot O’Leary, Lorraine Kelly, Craig David, Kara Tointon, Scott Mills and Olly Murs.  The BBC has also revealed that Ronnie Ancona, Nadia Sawalha and Peter White will be taking part.
The trek across the Kaisut Desert in northern Kenya commences later this month and will take the stars five days to complete.  Accompanying the group is a caravan of camels to transport camping gear and other equipment.  A spokesperson for Comic Relief said that money raised from the trek would help prevent thousands of people in Africa from contracting eye conditions or going blind.  A documentary will be shown on BBC 1 on the 18th March 2011 in the run up to this year’s Red Nose Day.

wedding-image1Are you planning or looking to get married in the near future? Have you ever dreamed of going on safari? If your answer to both of those questions is yes then you will be delighted to hear some exciting news emanating from Kenya. This is because Africa Sky is thrilled to announce that we are now able to offer the experience of a life time… getting married whilst on safari!
Two of our most popular camps, Porini Lion Camp and Porini Mara Camp can now offer a great authentic experience as well as a romantic one, with assistance all the way to plan your perfect day. Imagine being in the heart of big game country and taking your vows under an Acacia tree. The ceremony is held near the camp with a beautiful flora decoration picked and prepared locally using all indigenous plants and flowers and you are welcomed by traditional Masai singing. The Masai elders will also give their blessing to you completing this special occasion. The Camp staff will then present you with a wedding cake, made in camp and then the icing on it all, is a wonderful, romantic bush lunch or dinner. You can tailor the final arrangements to what you want to do on your special day, maybe a game drive in the morning or a walk with the Masai, back to camp for an al fresco lunch and then hold your ceremony during the quiet of the afternoon. Let your imagination run wild with the animals…

With an unbeatable free night offer if you stay 3 nights or more if you book by the 28th February, why not get the ball rolling and speak to one of our travel advisors. With years of experience arranging these momentous occasions, Tropical Sky’s wedding co-ordinators offer couples their expert advice, first-hand knowledge of the hotels as well as the personal attention to detail that is needed for organising a wedding abroad.
