Birdlife in Kenya

What is the first thing that pops into your mind, when I say Kenya…. safari adventures, stunning landscapes and sandy beaches, but did you know that Kenya represents Africa’s best birding destination. Kenya has over 1100 different species of birds and with the habitats ranging from forests, to wetlands and even the rich grasslands most of the birds are easy to spot. Such a rich variety inevitably produces a stunning array of birdlife, ensuring the country’s reputation as the heart for all birdwatchers of all levels of experience.

One of the unforgettable sights on a tour of Kenya is the spectacular flock of pink flamingoes that cover many lakes in Kenya. There are also soda lakes which cover many species of water birds from Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha and even Lake Elementaita which are mostly enjoyed by pelicans, flamingos, fishing eagles, herons, kingfishers and others.

Kenya is a paradise for bird lovers and here at Africa Sky we can tailor-make an itinerary for you around the area which has the birdlife that you would like to see.
